Where did you get her?Weird! Where I got my Sapphire Gems the don’t have any Rhode Island Reds at all.
From a friend that raises them and has for yearsWhere did you get her?
Raises sapphire gems? They are a hybrid, a sex-linked cross of blue Plymouth rock x barred rock. A sapphire gem crossed with another sapphire gem is no longer a sapphire gem. From a friend that raises them and has for years
Yes I realize this. This is what I was meaning. There are no Rhode Island Reds. They breed for the SG’s No need to be snippy. Fact being there are no RIR on there farm.Raises sapphire gems? Interesting. Well, your pullet does have another breed in her other than blue rock and barred rock since neither of those breeds have red feathering.Yes I realize this. This is what I was meaning. Where did you get her? She has a rose comb and what looks like lacing on her chest. She looks closer to a blue laced red wyandotte than a sapphire gem.I have a sapphire gem that has a lot of red feathers on her neck too. These were taken about 2 weeks ago and she's gotten a whole lot more since then. Also in the first photo you can see one of her tail feathers is black/white. They just have some funky colorings that can come through lol
I'm also wondering why she has a rose comb. It was a backyard breeder and he had a bunch of different breeds of chickens all together. I think in the least they are not first getn SG, but could be different breeds all together. I have looked up gold laced wyandottes but they don't look like her at all! She's way more blue with orange feathers randomly on her neck, where GLW are way more red with some blue lacing...Unless the gold comes out later in age? This is her currently. I'm honestly stumped, she looks mostly like a SG to me but the comb lolWhere did you get her? She has a rose comb and what looks like lacing on her chest.
