Feathered Billy-Goat Chicks EATING Their Paper Towel Flooring

I have two 10 day old chicks.


They have taken to tearing apart the paper towels I put at the bottom of their brooder, and EATING that flooring.


Tonight, I had no sooner changed the paper on bottom of their brooder when those two were already tearing that paper apart and eating it.


What should I do?


Is eating paper towel bad for baby chicks?

i put paper towels down and then i put that rubber shelf lining that you would use in kitchen cabinets. they get good traction on it and to clean it just take them out and roll it up and give it a good shake outside. mine would eat the paper also. until i read on byc that people are using the rubber shelf liner. walmart has it for about 4.00 a roll. you can also wash it between hatchings.
