Feathers and waterproofing

She's still young. Is she preening herself when she gets out of the water? Does her oil gland looking okay?

Ducklings shouldn't be unsupervised in water until 8 weeks.
It definitely isn't safe for her to be out free ranging on a river. Predators, drowning, it's all a possibility.
Yes, I don’t let her go anywhere alone she’s always with me. She does preen in the water and at first to dry off as soon as she gets out but nothing really more than that other than picking at her chest feathers. Her gland looks fine and it got oil all over me it’s just weird how she’s not repelling water.

Do you supplement niacin? Mixing the duckling feed with the chick feed is going to reduce the niacin percentage a little.
If she's getting a lot of treats, that's also going to water down the nutrients from the feed a bit
No I haven’t gotten any yet, I live in a Tiny town and got all we have my next closest feed store is an hour a way. I’m going to try and get some this weekend though.
