Feathers everywhere!

So should I stay away from layers because of the drakes? The purina flock raiser, do you keep them on this for life?

Sorry, storm came through and knocked out our internet and everything just as I was trying to respond, lol...

Yes, I absolutely do and have a large happy, healthy flock... just keep oyster shell on the side and monitor that the ones laying are eating it as needed... as long as their shells are good and hard, every once in a while there's a duck that doesn't eat it but most know when they need it...

If there's only one or 2 drakes and many ducks, some people do just keep them on layer, but I prefer to use the all flock feed... much less hassle and no worries about what the babies are eating either... :)

This clears things up. just found this, looks like a good all rounder & just add oyster shell when they want it. Thoughts?

My local farm don't stick heygate (the feed pictured above).

They recommended this & to add oyster shell? I thought I best see what you guys think first as my local farm shop seem to specialise more in equestrian than duckies.

Looks good and when they are in molt just add some good quality cat or dog kibble to give some added protein. Put the oyster shell in separate bowl than feed they will use as needed.

will it be ok for my drakes too? & can this be fed for the rest of their lives?
