OK, the son of a friend of mine likes to tie his own flies for fly fishing and I thought I read somewhere about people using certain chickens for their feathers for the flies. Does anyone know anything about this, are there particular breeds that work better? [IMG] I'm clueless, I admit it [IMG]

    Thanks!

I use any feathers I find for my flies it just depends on what you are trying to tie!

A coworker of mine ties flies. He didn't like the feathers I was bringing in. He wanted neck feathers. When he asked if he could come over and pluck some. He lost feather privileges.

The hackle feathers are the most expensive to buy, so are peacock feathers.

When our male Lady Amherst Pheasant died a few weeks ago, we plucked him from top to bottom.

A friend bought 1/2 of them and I still have a gallon zip lock bag full if anyone wants to make me an offer [IMG]
