Holy moly! That’s so hot. Mystery solved. I’m even more impressed anything hatched.

Yep. My incubator was reading the correct tempature but my hydrometer was reading the high temp. I really want an NR 360. This one is giving out on me!

My hatch is all done! I ended up with 6 for sure silkied Blue Cochin bantams, one that might be a very dark Blue or a Black, 4 for sure silkied Blacks, 3 smooth Chocolates, one smooth Chocolate Cuckoo, and one that looks like it might be an oopsie mixed color Cochin that came along with the silkied BBS eggs, for a total of 16 babies!!

I hope I'm not hogging your thread Just wanted to follow up my last post with individual shots that I took of them all yesterday. They are all Cochin bantams, and the Blacks and Blues are silkied. The mixed color baby was from an egg accidentally sent with the silkied BBS Cochin eggs, so she's a bit of a surprise. We'll see how she looks as she grows!

The mixed color baby was from an egg accidentally sent with the silkied BBS Cochin eggs, so she's a bit of a surprise. We'll see how she looks as she grows!

They are! I've never had so many Cochin bantam babies at once with their lil fuzzy feets

I hope you can get a better incubator for your next incubator hatch so you don't have to worry about temp spikes like what happened this time. I know it's only been a couple days, but how are your broody eggs doing today? And your Blue babies, I haven't seen an update on their thread in a while, either!

Me too. The blue babies had to stay at Grandmas house while I went out of town. I got back today though. They grew so much! I swear doubled in size. And they have 1/2 of their wings! I left her 6 eggs. 2 are on day 5, 2 on day 4, and 2 on day 3. I may have to bring the last 2 in and put them in the bator while they hatch. Then sneak them under her. Hopefully that is not too far apart. What do you think?

I don't have a whole lot of experience with broody hens beyond busting them because I never want chicks when they do. But, my understanding is it really depends on the individual hen, so you'll have to play it by ear once you get to that point. It's possible if you hatch them in the incubator and let them dry off and get walking good, then slip them under her overnight, that she won't notice and adopt them just fine. Hopefully it goes smoothly regardless of what you choose to do!

That is what I plan to do. I have an empty coop that I will put the Blue Chicks in around 6 weeks. I am hoping that I can integrate the 3 week ild black chicks and the 6 week old blue chicks.

1. I'll do an adopt an egg with the broody eggs. Eggs 1 - 6 are available. They are from my Black Cochin Bantams.

2. The chicks are a week old! I am posting an update on my growth thread tonight.
