FEB HATCH-ALONG THREAD ...COME JOIN US.... EVERYONE!

I got my eggs delivered today and am very excited but I have another Q, I ordered 6 and she sent 10 so that is great but 1 has a crack in it. I covered it with melted wax like I read in a post but would you all bother trying to incubate it or just get rid of it. I started thinking that I would not want to risk a deformity in the chick or have go bad and possibly ruin anther egg. Any thoughts?
I say incubate! Why not? How bad is the crack?

Quote: Thats too bad. I've found that Silkie eggs are prone to internal damage through the mail. They can't take the bumping around as well as some eggs. Doesn't seem to matter which source I've gotten them from.

Hope the ones that you have left hatch for you!

Hi, Today is Monday, Feb 4th.......I am putting 2 dozen salmon calico wheaten from my project Silkies.

It gets to be very exciting because the colors that hatch are awesome. I purchased my rooster from April at Brody's Broodello.

All my hens are from Karen Larson. April has been working on the color project for years.

Wish me luck,
Barbara/Ohio

I was pretty depressed when I woke up this morning to find not only little Lila (the chick in the chair) but also all 4 of the lav orp chicks who hatched last night dead. 2 of them never did push out of the shell. Geez I am telling ya'll this is NOT going well for me at all! I still have my little silkie Peeps, she is doing wonderful! I guess DH was feeling bad for me so he went to town, came back with 4 little fuzzy butts! 1 blk silkie, 1 partridge silkie and 2 Porcelain chicks! They are really cute, look healthy & best of all Sugar Peeps is no longer lonely :clap

I put in my 3 Isbars in lockdown this afternoon- I sure hope they do better than the others... I'm about to decide to just buy chicks, wait till they lay & hatch my own eggs rather that keep buying eggs. I have spent a fortune over the past 2 months on eggs, all I have to show so for is Sugar Peeps...
Aww I am sorry to hear about your loss. Your husband sound like mine! I will be glad if mine hatch. I just went on lock down!
