FEB HATCH-ALONG THREAD ...COME JOIN US.... EVERYONE!

I would love to get some... maybe in a few weeks (my bator is in use right now & wont be free for a while)... if I could sneek them past DH. I'm sure he'd rather not have to expand our coop/run - again! Plus I, well our daughter, made him build a separate coop & run for her silkies for breeding. There's so many breeds I'd love to add though... Polish, Maran's, any olive eggers... the list is near endless. I'm trying to avoid too much chicken math over here. LOL. Having to expand chicken living quarters would not be a discussion I'd like to have with him... especially around tax time.

You Isbars will hatch... I know it! Ok, I'm thinking positively. But don't touch them! If your humidity is right & your temp is right, it will be fine.

When mine were hatching, I always had the urge to tap on the incubator to see if I could get any of them to chirp in their shell. It never worked... but made me feel like I was doing "something". It probably just backfired & made the ulcer worse tho.

LOL I do that too! Plus I talk to them, hoping (but not) to get a responding chirp. And I know what you mean, DH asked where I would put all the chickens if all my eggs did hatch- he doesn't know my plan yet

but he's worse than me when it comes to animals, so it'll be fine!
That would be so great if you could get some of the same eggs- then we'd be family!
And my temp is 99.5 have both wells full plus added warm wet sponge- so I know the humidity is high- this is in my brinsea mini advance- theres no room to put the thingy to measure humidity-

Pug! Talk to those chicies. Peep Peep at them..tap the window. Flash the flash light on them. That usually gets mine going when they are close to pipping..serious.(more the flash light than the talking probably)

Yep been doing all that! Plus next to the bator is the brooder w/ 5 little fuzzy butts cheeping-

OH MAN!

Well, you got me thinking about my eggs in the bator all morning! They're on day 5 now I think (set them Saturday night). I put 8 in my mini advance. All the eggs were anywhere from 3 weeks to 1 week old since our hen stopped laying, plus I thought 2 of them might have froze (Michigan!), and one of the eggs (her last one laid) was a bit smaller and the shell was thinner, it felt papery (I figured it must be because her egg maker was already preparing for shut down broodyville!).

I put them all in the incubator anyways with the automatic turner. I had set the smaller thin egg, and one of the "froze?" eggs both on one wedge of the turner and figured I would just manually turn them until I was able to take out the duds later. A few days ago I checked them. I saw veining in the thin shelled one. I figured I was able to see it already cuz it was thinner. Anyways, the next day when I went to manually turn them, I saw a crack in that egg. I was already debating tossing it out, so that sure made my decision easier. Out it went... but it had started - too cool! Now I'm down to 7 eggs, in my 7 egg bator. :)

So, since you all have my stomach in knots and my brain on eggs! I checked them all just now & ALL 7 are developing!

That means that all 8, including the one I had to toss the other day were/are good!). I saw veining and even little heartbeats in each egg. Even the eggs that I thought had froze outside, and even the eggs that were 3 weeks old already before going in the incubator. Some of the eggs have a slightly bigger tiny blobs than the others, but I had that with my last batch too early on. I filled up the water reservoir, closed it up, & after a deep breath and after securing my jaw back in my mouth I ran back here to type!

I am super stressed now. What if they die?! What if they have leg problems like my last batch!? What if it’s my fault!?? What if my humidity is off... or the temperature??! What am I doing wrong?! What if... What if... etc!!

No this is a BR chick from the hens that I hatched out last July. I think that was the hatchalong that you and I first met in.
The little yellow one in that other pic on here? You mean the newest dark one in the bator pic. Any other hatches now since yesterday?.
