Oh no, haha, it's not a type of silkie its where I got the eggs from. Catdance silkies is just the name of it, she has a website: http://www.catdancesilkies.com/
She actually has an account here on BYC, I think its kelar. She is one of the best silkie breeders around in my opinion, and I just couldn't resist purchasing some of her eggs!

I'm very excited for the hatch! She included Paint, Blue/Splash, Lavender, Buff, Partridge, Porcelain, and White among the assorted batch she sent me

I dont do silkies but have heard Catdance are fantastic looking
How excitng .I think Brookhaven has hatched some.

They did order and have the eggs shipped last year. I felt so bad for the kids - they were so disappointed! They had 3 classrooms and one class only got 1 chick...... I am going to walk my eggs over the day they are due to set them and help the classes get them set. Hopefully the gentle "shipping" makes a difference. Nearly all of my eggs are fertile so hopefully they get a good hatch ratio. I love that they have a webcam too and I'll be able to watch my babies hatch from home.

Hello everyone! I am fairly new to byc !

I am on lockdown too. Due to hatch any minute! I am so stressed. This is my first time any only two eggs. They are from my RIR and my silkie Emmit. I also have 8 more due to hatch on the 7 th!

Thanks for the welcome! I got a Brinsea Mini Advance for Christmas. Yesterday, I got rid of my LF. I'm getting more into breeding/showing Bantams and I just didn't have time for them anymore. So, when I went to the farm we took them too, the owner was kind enough to let me pick out some eggs to hatch. He has a crele SL roo, with a flock of NN, BR's, EE, and some barnyard crossbreds. I grabbed 5 brown eggs and 2 EE.

A web cam!! That is really cool and You can see too! Know they will have a good hatch One chick?? Little kids get so dissapointed.... Heck adults do HAHA

I set 15 eggs yesterday afternoon - due date of 2/20. I made my own bator so I'm hoping I have some luck with it.

I went out and gathered eggs from my coop yesterday. I have no clue what I will be hatching out. I have two roo's, one BO and one BR. The BO is my head gentleman but the BR does get frisky when he's not looking.

As for the hen's - I have some BR, some RIR, two Black sex link's, three buff sex link's and a few EE's. I only set 2 EE eggs because that was all I had and really......I wasn't so sure I wanted any more EE's at the moment.

I'm working out the kinks with my humidity but the temp seems to be holding well at 99. My humidity was up to 76% so I had to change out my sponge - now it's hanging in the mid 50's so hopefully this does the trick.

I'm planning on giving 50 eggs to the school next door in a few weeks for their 2nd grade classes to hatch out - I wanted to make sure I could get some to hatch out on my own at first. They had a horrible time last year - 14 chicks out of 72 eggs and not all 14 made it. I am hoping to give them local eggs and they'll have better luck this time around.

Sometimes for classroom hatching, it isn't so much about the eggs (though it is definitely a factor) as it is to the variation in classroom temperature and the incubators ability to deal with it. When class is in session and there are lots of kids in the room or sunny out, the classroom heats up. Also, most schools turn their temps down after hours and weekends, so that messes with the incubators too. The only way I was able to be successful with my classroom hatching, was getting a digital incubator that could keep up better with external temps.

I have eggs that go into lockdown today - Black Australorps, Partridge Silkies, Silkie/Showgirl/Serama mixes, Spitzhauben mixes and some Araucana mixes (wonder if they will be rumpless). Started with about 40 and am down to 25. Many that I pulled were first testings for fertility and they just weren't ready yet.

Welcome to the group. The last 3 days are the worst no matter how many times you have hatched.
I started out last July with just wanting a few chickens for eggs. I now have over 70 chickens ranging in age from 1 day to 6 months. I also have 40+ eggs in the bator with more on the way. It can be very addicting.

for a good hatch. Lucky you on the Lav. Orps. I have tried hatching them out 2 times and can't get a single chick.
