FEB HATCH-ALONG THREAD ...COME JOIN US.... EVERYONE!

Sorry it took me so long to answer you! Ok I'm gonna go on a limb here & just tell you that IF this was my egg, I would make a small hole in the shell, where the air cell is. It needs to be big enough to see in. I am not telling you to do this b/c if you do you are taking a chance, but to my way of thinking @ day 23, then the dark spot- you are taking a risk also by just waiting...
I did and it was shrink wrapped. Fully developed.

Of 4 silkie eggs... one has hatched this morning, another has pipped, and nothing from the other 2 yet.

The one hatched is quite a jabber box! & it's farting around all over the bator bumping into eggs, trying to wake up it's siblings I'm sure. I hope they listed to it. LOL!

The new chick made it out of her shell a couple hours ago w/ no further assistance- but I'm keeping an eye on it b/c it still had some goo in the shell bottom that was not absorbed & the tummy still had a small hole. It's scooching all around the bator, seems very active... I just don't know... I am so drained from these 2 hatches this week. And tomorrow is lock down 4 the other lav orp eggs- geez louise!
AHHH Good luck!

The other day I had a humidity prob which I didn't know until too late- 1 chick pipped on day 21, then spent over 20 hours struggling- I ended up getting her out & she's doing fine now. The rest of the eggs w/ her all chicks died in the shell w/o ever pipping- Then today was day 21 for the other chick I pipped the shell for it. My concern was not so much that it was late, but it & the 2 others in the bator today had been in my other bator w/ the silkie eggs I lost, except for the 1. I hope I am making sense here for you.

If I were you I would maybe candle your eggs b/4 you do anything else. If something does not look right, then think about pipping the shell. It has to be your decision, I don't want to give you bad advise. Good luck I hope it turns out well for you & your eggs!

Yes!

I am on day 23 now 1st hour of day 23. Do you think I should pip mine too and see. I don't want them to die. I did the float test and they are passing it. Any suggestions?
I say maybe poke a hole in ONE of them... but I am no expert. Day 23 is kinda late, but hey, my chick hatched on day 23 fine. :D One minute and I'll post a thread where you can get good info on. :D

PugBug it is not the beak. It is in the almost middle of air cell in the out side not the very end. It is in shape of almost a triangle
I think it is the beak! I saw a triangle moving in the air cell of my chick's egg, and soon after it pipped!
Did it look something like this?

Only closer to the middle maybe. I don't think it really matters where the beak is in the air cell.

Ok I hope these show up good. Here is my little "Sugar Peeps" an hour after hatch. As you can see, she could not stand & her toes were all curled. The 2nd pic below is her this morning sporting her happy feet boots to correct her problem

BTW can anyone tell me what color she is???

She's adorable!
As for color...do you know what the parents were? I've had one's look like that before and they turned out either white or buff.

Yahoo! We now have 1 hatched, and the other 3 have all pipped holes! Please let all 4 eggs hatch without issues... ***please please please please***
