The stress is a bugger for sure!Just let um go and worry later plenty of time fore that By th way they may start to pip star cracks tonite Some do day 20![]()
.Look close.GOOD LUCK!
Any trouble later (dont worry for 24 ours after a pip ...) let us know we will help why we are all here! SUPPORT and ya need it no matter what hatch it is...
Om i just wrote all this and lost it ...DUH... Try again..Good morning! First time hatcher here!!Day 14 of hatching shipped Silkie eggs. PA to CA! The 9 eggs left out of the original 14 are doing great! 5 of the nine have large to very large saddle air cells.
Finally calibrated my hygrometer and found that it was running 5% high. Should be ok...I was keeping it between 40 and 50 anyway. I'm so excited and nervous for hatch day. Btw I know I need a brooder all set up (done that before) but what else do I need to get together for during and right after hatch? Including things I may need for sickly chicks or if I have to assist? Thanks for any info and good luck to all!!![]()
Thank you so much for the info!Om i just wrote all this and lost it ...DUH... Try again..
Sounds like your eggs are doing really well for shipped usually dont get a lot from them...but lightening can stike!!
tweezers, cotton balls, small scissors, spray bottle for spraying into the bator if you are removing some hatched dry ones but Dont do this if the other eggs are externally pipped
poli vi sol NO IRON for sick chick.
Eye dropper (I use the poli vi sol one )
vet tape or duct tape if one has crooked toes. (has to be taped within 3 days to fix them)
Some ppl keep electrolytes around for sick chicks,
MAKE sure you dip their beak into the water you have in the brooder as they claim they dont know how to drink water and may die .Also ifd its not a waterer put marbels or rocks inwit hthe ater inthe bowl as the first day or 2 they try and drowned.
Food they will know how to peck. Put paper towels or wash rag on the pine chips in the brooder for the first day or so as they wont know what they should eat or not until they know what food looks like
thats all i can think of . and good luck to you!..
AHHH Good luck!
Yes!
I say maybe poke a hole in ONE of them... but I am no expert. Day 23 is kinda late, but hey, my chick hatched on day 23 fine. One minute and I'll post a thread where you can get good info on.

Well I got another in shoes! The lav orp, only 1 ft has crooked toes, but unless I booted both ft she couldn't stand![]()
HOPE SO TOO!![]()
PUG EEEEEE she looks SOOO cute n her shoes!!!! A_D_O_R_A_B_L_E...LOVE her color!!
The lady I ordered from has each color in seperate pen, then marked the eggs as to color. I think this one was mismarked. It said white- but as I've been looking at silkie chicks, she looks more like the blues. She is getting a darker shade each day too, looks like a silvery blue color now. She's adorable!
As for color...do you know what the parents were? I've had one's look like that before and they turned out either white or buff.
Oh, I don't know. I spend a lot of time worrying about her worrying about them. Also trying to keep her comfortable, make sure she eats, trying to keep her on the right eggs (dumb chicken). Plus, I'm guessing y'alls incubators don't peck at you when you candle, lol.
