We're doing the same thing!  I'm on my 2nd round of hatching silkie eggs this month (they'll hatch around Feb 23rd), and then we're going to mix it up a bit with the girls from the flock (all treated to a romantic dinner by our big Brahma rooster that's in my avatar.) 

What mixes are you going to put in? 


My rooster is a black sexlink, I have 6 barred rock hens, 2 golden comets, 3 barnyard mixes. My 4 year old came up with a name for the chicks from the comets rock stars! I thought it was cute. Barred+red star or golden comet, they have so many names for my type of chicken.

Try placing a sponge or washcloth inside and drip warm water on it through one of the vent holes. It is not the amount of water you but the surface area of moisture that makes the humidity go up.

I too am having a hard time to get the humidity over 35%

So excited right now!!! I just checked on my eggs and one of my pullets first eggs has pipped!!! Tomorrow is Day 21 so it is a day early but then again it may take that long to hatch. I'm gonna be a grandma...

You need to get it up or the chicks are never going to hatch. Try putting a washcloth or sponge in there. Make sure to use warm water.

I am picking up some brand new sterile sponges at the dollar store on my way home with my last set of eggs in a few. I will be getting that humidity up if I have to lay on them myself! (which I better not, bc I would kill them all!)

It is Day 23 for my Orpington eggs and low and behold I have a pip. I have never had one pip this late and was going to toss them tomorrow. Just goes to show you that they will hatch when they are ready.

You can always use paper towels too.

I need help I have a little giant and today is the first day of lockdown and I can't get the humidity above 54%

Add a warm wet sponge, or paper towel, even a wet wash rag to your bator. That should raise it- good luck!

Yea!!!!! It's day 21 today on my Isbars, no pips yet- & have not noticed any more rocking- I get so sick to my stomach on hatch day!!! I hope your do well!
