Cami day 5 now.  I am more questioning those super dark eggs. It's so dark and full like the first 2 pics posted on a LOT of them, but no idea of veining bc I can see them through the egg color. Wondering if that drastic change in egg insides mean poss fertile....

I would think so, cause there's a definite air cell and dark mass. With my dark eggs I wasn't able to see anything but the mass until they got farther along and then I happened to catch the veining near the air cell. Maybe someone else can answer better. Grow babies grow!

Ok, I'd say about a quarter of my eggs are too dark to see anything, but look like this when I candle:





These two I have the highest hopes for:




These are the best I can see in any of them. MOST of them tat are too dark to see veins inside look like those top pics. Thoughts??

Yes, those air sacs are nice and clear! They are looking good in those dark eggs. Are they marans or OE's? I have some of those, that I have to go by the air sacs too. There are a couple that have that dull air sac look. Will wait until day 10 to decide to throw any out.

I have a few that I think are just infertile, they look identical to day 0. But the dark ones (mostly Marans) and OEs are SO dark, but they ALL have this dark "top" and clear (as clear as you can see in those eggs) "bottom". I have no idea what I am looking at though!

What color are the shells? Darker shells are harder to see into and there may be veining but you won't see it unless you have a strong flashlight or candler.

The one that is almost entirely dark is a light green, so I'm not sure what's going on?

Actually I didn't set any darker brown eggs this time, they are all tan in color so who knows...

Also, Thank you Gapeach717 for posting those pictures! The green egg I said was super dark except for the air cell looks exactly like the first two pictures. Now I feel better about them still possibly hatching!

I only have one incubator, but am thinking of buying a new one, so I have to wait until these are done to start anymore. I am looking at some eggs online to hopefully buy! Did you say that you are on day 5? You could see that last pic really good!

LOL!! I am freaking out with my eggs, and they are making you feel better!!! HA!!!

The green colored egg with the "clear air sac" is a very dark OE egg but all my Marans are identical!!

I started day 5 at 12:10 this afternoon.

I have 2 LGs and hubby is making another one this week bc I am terrified of a staggered hatch and I have eggs coming all different times this next week!!! I have a slight addiction suddenly to hatching!!!
