I candled 11 eggs last night, and out of those 5 seem to have some veining going on. The other 6 I am not sure. I will candle again Wed or Thursday!

Good luck!! I do want to just say, on shipped eggs I was totally freaked about the crazy air cells and misplaced air cells. I even had air cells so big that I was positive the tiny blob in there was not going to hatch or be fully formed. I left them and they all hatched!! So, unless you don't see anything, I would leave them, cuz you might be surprised. Out of 16 shipped eggs, 13 made it to lockdown and 12 hatched!! I had 1 infertile an 2 blood rings early on, but they were very obvious.

Come on chickys hatch hatch hatch!!

Have 8 Cubalaya eggs in lock down right now. They should start hatching tomorrow. They were all looking good when they went into lock down so I am hoping for a good hatched.

what u hatching out i am hatching some lavender cochins some lavender amercuanas and have some salmon favorelles

This is what I used to hook up my water heater thermostat. I am not an electrician, but if you use those little twisty things (dont know what they are called) and secure them with electric tape that will make the wires connections secure. You do have to drill a few holes in the thermostat, but it's just the plastic part. It helps the thermostat to be more sensitive. You also have to have the metal part of the thermostat facing the bulb no farther than 2 inches away. I also have a computer fan in there also.
You can see my thermostat in my incubator hanging from the wire close to the bulb. My temperature hardly wavers at all.

I don't have a thermostat - I just leave the light on all the time and it seems to be working OK. If I find the temp is a bit high, I just pop the top for a tiny bit and it drops it to where I need it to be. Although - I moved the incubator off of the floor last night and put it up on top of the tote I bought for the chicks to live in when they hatch - I woke up to it being 108 inside. I flipped that lid quicker than you can imagine, grabbed an egg and a flashlight and checked to make sure we were still good....... Thankfully we are but I learned, now that I don't have the cooler on the floor, I don't need to wrap it in towels. I'm going to drill a couple of holes in the cooler today and stick pieces of dowel in there to make vents so I can adjust the heat without popping the top. Now, if I had a thermostat in there, I think that would have helped last night. After my delivery from goodwill comes today, I am headed back to Lowe's and I think I'll grab a thermostat......

Does that 25 watt bulb get too hot ?Are there any small air vents in the cooler ?You dont have a thermostat? What is the exact size of the cooler?.I tried a bulb in a sty cooler and it went to like 130 when tested it.GUH... The bulb may have been 40 watt though... Cooler was the $2.50 styrafoam Wally kind.

The 25 watt doesn't get too hot - the cooler itself is 22"x15" and 15" tall with the lid on. It was one that medicine was shipped in to a local doctor's office. I was supposed to throw it away but I can't bring myself to do that so I always bring them home and find a good use for them.

I have lots of stuff stored in my sheds in them..... I had a 40W bulb at first and it got up to 113 in just under an hour - 25 is perfect for this size cooler.......

I built this not even thinking I need a thermostat but now everyone has me convinced I need one.

It's working without it so I don't know......and it's only a 25W bulb.....not too much electricity......
