FEB HATCH-ALONG THREAD ...COME JOIN US.... EVERYONE!

Ok, I have a candling question of my own. This is a new situation for me. When I candled my eggs on Sunday, I was pretty sure I had some quitters. I decided to wait a few more days just to be sure. On Monday I did end up taking one of the absolute known quitters out, so I had room to put my hygrometer in there. Anyways, I candled all of them again today (day 12), because I wanted to removed the "for sure" bad ones. Luckily I waited, because one of the ones I was unsure about, looks super great today! I did remove another one that I know was gone.. there wasn't even much veining left in it and it had a blood ring.

Anyways... here's my question. Of the 5 eggs left, on 1 of the eggs, I can see the chick is in there, and the veining, the chick is decent size and moving so I know it's alive. However, the veining and the chick seem to be taking up only 2/3 of the egg (vertical space, not including the air sack). The other part seems to be filled with whatever fluid/sludge... I have no idea really.

Ok, both pictures are showing upside down. Pff.. cell phone camera. Anyways, the dark area is the chick. When looking at the rest of the egg everything looks as it should. I kind of circled the sludgy area for the 2nd pic. There is no veining in that area, it is fairly liquidy and does move if I rotate the egg.

Anyways, does anybody have experience with this or know what I'm seeing? Why the sloshy area? And the effect on the developing chick, etc. Any info is a plus. If it's a sometimes normal thing just give me a smack & tell me to go sit down. LOL :)

Were these shipped eggs? Could it possible be a rolling air cell?

This hen has never laid double yolk eggs before. She is young though, I know it's not impossible. The egg is average size (same as the others). That would make sense too if that is the case here and just not developed. The egg was old before I put it in the incubator as well. I thought that might have something to do with it.

So, do say more. :) lol

I'm open to any info, my brain is a sponge!

Oh, and as far as the air cell... that looks great, and is on the rounded end as it should be. The liquid area is towards the pointy end going 2/3 upwards. My pictures are upside down. The light is setting on the air sack side.
