FEB HATCH-ALONG THREAD ...COME JOIN US.... EVERYONE!

Yes if there are cracks I have used electrical tape - worked out good for me

I have 2 that were just really cracked up tuesday night & because today is lock down (& I didn't know if they were even alive till today) the earlier instance w/ using the tape, it was about a week into incubation & my dry hands & startled self dropped an egg on top of the others & cracked it.

Here's a photo of my current eggs - 2 eggs on the bottom left were the ones dropped by my little boy - the one on the right bled a little (you can see the circle of dried up blood on it)

I appreciate everyone's help and suggestions. I just completed the build for my 2nd incubator so I can have the one for the first 18 days and then the 2nd for lock down till hatch. Here are a few pictures of the new one.

So now on Feb 21st when I go into lock down, I can take the eggs out of my current incubator and move them to this one till they hatch. I used a CalorIQue flexible heat tape for the heating element and a BAH-1000 Thermostat. Thanks again for the suggestions and good luck to everyone waiting on their hatches.

I am so excited for everyone!! I got my FIRST pip today on day 20 what punctual little guys! I am forcing myself to not go back up there until the morning... maybe all of them will be hatched.

It is good to take the plugs out at lockdown because the chicks need air. It makes humidity a little tougher, but you will have a much better hatch when they can get some air.

I agree, I don't even use them at all. I just get the temps and humidity set without them. Air, they need air. lol.. I've heard that a lot of folks that have hatched a lot, do without using the plugs, one gal even said, I just throw them away.
