February 2017 Hatch-a-long

Sorry, playing catch up!
It's doing great just the membrane dried up on it the pic shows red but it's not and no sign of a problem that time will not cure it's just stuck to its down my problem is the other one I think I'm going to loose it it was stuck pretty bad and could not pull the shell away from it ether so it's still under high humidity I mistedvitt and set it back into the incubator at 75% humidity hope it will eventually separate and make it but I think it has a small chance but the one on the pic no it will survive it's up and running around with its brothers and sisters
Fyi, misting eggs actually has the opposite effect. It dries them out as the mist evaporates. Some people like wet towels too, but I think they cause the eggs to chill. I've had a couple to zip and hadnt completely cut the membrane. I just tore it with my fingernails, and they will kick right out. Also, you can use a q-tip with some vaseline on it, to moisten membranes. The vaseline will highlight any active blood vessels and will soften the membrane.
My sole Sebright pipped, zipped and hatched with lightning speed, while I had my back turned. :D Chicken people can understand that this wet, flopped creature is such a beautiful sight.
That's awesome! I had a small flock of golden sebrights. The most beautiful birds, but mine were not very friendly, and I decided to go different routes, so I sold them. But I hatched a ton of them! Somebody asked about egg comparison, I have a pic somewhere, beside silkie eggs.

Well it all worked great all are doing ok even ms tank lol she looked like she was ready to go to war with all the eggshell stuck to her but I got most of it off and she is running around good as all the others so I'm glad she is doing so good she is a buff so I have now 6 black sex-links 2 hens 4 Roos 4 buffs unknown sex yet and looks like 2 black astrolops so it's a start to replenish my flock I have another 25 eggs on the cooker to see what comes out there if I'm lucky I'll get a lot better % hatched because they came fresh from the hens I have left all under 6 days old when they went into the incubator. I'm starting to like this way of cooking eggs lol might get addicted lol

I know I'll have fun now as soon as I get enough chicks to secure my flock if I have the funds I want to try some of the Silkiebrites they look Cool! Just hope they are a little more docile than the one Seabrite Roo I had here he would flog anything that moved even me!
