Oh no! I'm so sorry that happened! Anytime I'm unsure about what I'm looking at I mark the egg in question and check it again in a few days to see if there's any further development or breakdown otherwise. As long as there aren't any funky smells or oozing it's safe to do this.

Just candled Day 5 for the set of 18 eggs, 11 Silkies and 7 Polkies. All look good. One of the Polkie eggs has the air-cell on the side. I think it was a refrigerated egg as there is no date on it. Should have checked the air cells before I placed them, which I usually do, but I didn’t do it this time.

It is developing nicely, as you can see in the photo, but wondering if it will have issues when it needs to pip into that funky aircell.

Just candled Day 5 for the set of 18 eggs, 11 Silkies and 7 Polkies. All look good. One of the Polkie eggs has the air-cell on the side. I think it was a refrigerated egg as there is no date on it. Are you able to incubate this egg vertically? I always incubate horizontally unless I encounter something like this. I have found that one of two things can happen as the chick continues to develop, sometimes if the air cell is on the side but "close enough" to the rounded end of the egg it will end up hatching fine and look more like a saddled air cell as it expands, OR the air cell just "disappears" as the chick gets larger, leaving nowhere for the chick to pip internally unless it also penetrates the shell, more like a malposition hatch.

Yes I can set this one upright, no problem. They air cell looks pretty fixed already, will it shift upward?

Yes, it can, it's more likely to shift upward if you leave it upright.

Got a total of six eggs in various stages of hatching now. Much better than my last attempt already lol. It’s day 19 for the 5 Silkies, day 18 for the one araucana egg that’s pipped. Can’t see around the back to check the other Silkies yet which are the buff ones (day 18 for them too) but don’t wanna move it. Will take pics later.

If it's closer to the top you probably won't have any issues with it! I wouldn't worry.
