February 2022 Hatch-A-Long

Pics
It’s been running about 55. Right now it’s a 48. I thought maybe I should let it lower some. Here’s an updated picture on day 14. I marked it on the egg today so I can make sure it’s getting bigger after today because it still seems small. But I’ve never hatched duck eggs so I really don’t know.

So cute! After you spray the eggs are you allowing the water to evaporate completely before putting them back in the incubator (or before closing the incubator again)? That is what will increase weight loss when doing the spraying method with waterfowl.

ay 19 and waiting for those first internal PIPS. Photo of my wonkie side air cell egg, it has drawn down significantly. Not quite sure where it’s going to PIP but I’ll keep a close eye on it. It has been incubating upright since about day 5 and the plan is it will hatch upright as well.
If you look at the bottom of the photo, you can see it is starting to shadow.
Second photo is reminder how it looked at day 5.😊

I got one like this too!

Are these shipped eggs or your eggs? Have you had good hatches in the past? It could be many factors, but I don't have all the information. You may need to replace it so you can tweak that one. Or it may be a great hatcher or warmer....

I’ve had this incubator (Janoel 12) for about 5 years now. Until this year, the only hatch I’ve had with a less than 90% hatch rate was a batch of shipped eggs that my post office “lost” for a week. This year, I’ve had 1/9, 2/6, and 1/6 hatches from two sets of eggs from my flock and one set of shipped eggs. I’m fairly confident this cheap incubator has outlived its usefulness at this point.

That's what I'm doing for my wonky aircells too. Are you rotating at all?

After my crappy 2/14 hatch rate last month I had to upgrade my el cheapo incubator. I got the little giant so not too much of an upgrade but I did invest in the fan
