One ugly looking Araucana chick hatched lol one of the buff Silkies has pipped too. Both araucana and the buffs are just starting day 19

I guess I’m gonna give hatching another go. A friend sent me a dozen surprise rainbow eggs & I added a couple from my banty. I set them last night then slipped 1 more in today. I want to see if taking the warm egg straight from the nest box to the incubator has a better hatch. 🙏🤞🙏 this hatch goes better than our first

I have 3 broody Cochin Bantams and a broody Blue Maran. 😳 Literally what are they thinking? On Wednesday the low is supposed to be -15'F or something.
My one & only experience with a broody was my banty back in October as soon as it started getting cold. She was also only 6 months old 😬

They are thinking they want babies.. you must obey

This morning's update. Thought had a new Araucana but nope, Silkie just jumped the divider to hang out with it lol One new buff Silkie hatched, two more pipped. Each time I think I'll take the fluffy ones out when x hatches, I get new pips so they have to stay in there for now lol

I made the decision and I evicted the Silkies as the one was picking on the araucana who’s still drying out. I put a wet paper towel in and humidity barely dropped. Here’s the new Silkie babies. Sorry they're so dark. Weather here isn't great today. The last one's covered in dried up goop.

Day 17 update.
I've done my final candling, I'm going to do a soft lockdown today by slightly increasing my humidity as I have my 3 smallest candling a day or so ahead so rather be safe by locking down a little early.
Started with 10, lost 1 at day 3 and the other around day 9.

So 8 out of 10 are going in lockdown later. I'm pretty content with that number for shipped eggs and my first try at incubating. Now the hard part, to sit and wait. Haha. :)
