I could be wrong, but I believe that's like a bruise on the inside - like maybe the chick punctured a blood vessel. Not to worry. Might be about to pip in that spot.

I'll try again tomorrow. I do have a lot of chicks. The brooder is supposed to be able to handle 26 chickies, so there will probably be enough room. I'm still a bit nervous.
