February 2023 hatch-a-long

Pics
I started turning my shipped eggs today. Gently tilting to one side while upright. Candled a local egg and the yolk looks pretty dark (blue egg), but I think there were veins and a dot in it. I was afraid to candle/have it out too long so I’ll candle it again on day 7. I’m turning 5 times a day. I had a nightmare that one of my eggs exploded which tells me I’m thinking way too much about hatching these babies.🤦🏻‍♀️😭

Wow. The eggs can be at room temperature, though. That's how I collected eggs over Saturday and Sunday. I sat in the barn, and every time a hen would drop an egg I'd catch it and put it in a big basket inside. I kept it at room temperature, so you can do that too. Just my 2 cents. don't be too scared an egg will explode, this is my first hatch and none of my eggs exploded. Is this your first hatch too?

I have my hen's eggs I am adding to my shipped eggs, but I warm them up in a separate incubator. Then I am going to put them all in one incubator, until day 18 for the shipped incubator. The shipped ones will go into a hatching incubator on day 18. They are all marked.

Yes this is my first hatch and although I read/researched like crazy…. still feel unsure that I’m doing things right.🥴 I ordered shipped eggs before I realized how iffy they could be when incubating. I have 12 shipped eggs and 6 local eggs.😅

My avatar I have been waiting on finally laid her egg. IDK if it is fertile, she doesn't lay enough for me to break one open and check. My rooster has been fertilizing I have 8 or so in the incubator on day one, I am warming up the avatar's egg and some others.
My avatar's egg. The color is not bright, but it is a light green with some spots.

Some others I am also going to set...

These are the same eggs I posted pic on yesterday.
The one below that looks like 2 love dots, they are not as close together as they were.

Do you guys incubate your shipped eggs upright the entire time? I'm on day 4 now. Wondering if I should lay mine on their sides now. Only one shipped egg had a normal air cell, the rest were not fully detached but jiggly. Currently in upright tilted position.

I think you're doing stuff fine 🫠 Just don't worry too much, and I think you'll be fine. Remember, if exploding eggs are all you think about, it is most likely that one of your eggs will explode. All of my eggs are local. Good fortune. How many days to hatch? What is your hatch day?
