Pidgey, an update on my egg....since my eggs were all smashed except for one....as I suspected, it must have been damaged when the rest of them were. No hatchable swap eggs from me this time.

Hi Laurie,

I have been very busy so I haven't been able to log in. I did receive your eggs and they were all perfect! Awesome packing job. Just to let you know, I did put the 5 of the first dozen (that I washed and scrubbed the goo off lol) in the bator just to see what would happen and 4 of them are showing development. I will keep you posted on all of them. Thanks for resending some more. I have some black bantam frizzle cochins that I couldn't breed until I got a non frizzle so these guys will fit right in. Were they bantam or standard size birds? They are kind of a medium egg so I can't tell for sure.

Thanks,

Keith

Those are Black Mottled Cochins, Keith. The larger eggs are the Standard Black Cochins.

I have to tell you that I got the Black Mottled Cochin bantams from Kim from Camelot Farms. The rooster is Popcorn, the two hens are Milky Way and Licorice. They're the sweetest, most lovable birds, ever. The hens get up on my shoulders when I'm sitting with them and Popcorn will sit on my lap. Every single baby that I've hatched out from them have the same exact temperment. One of their babies that I hatched out last summer is sitting on a clutch of eggs. She's the perfect broody mama!

The Standard Black Cochin roo is from Rhonda from JewellFarms. His name is Baxter and he's a MONSTER of a rooster. 13 lbs of solid muscle!! He loves his ladies. Actually he loves them so much that I just had to buy them saddles because he's taking all the feathers off them from mating! LOL

His 3 ladies are Sofie, Polly, and Zena that I got from NellaBean on BYC. They're shy, sweet girls who love to snuggle and cuddle. Their temperment is also spectacular. I have sweet babies from them in the brooder now and all prior babies are love bugs. Both Sofie and Zena have gone broody and have hatched out their own eggs and others that I slipped under them. They're good mama's. Polly hasn't gone broody yet.

Please keep me updated on how they progress. I'm glad this shipment got there in one piece and I again apologize about the first set of eggs. Hubby was only trying to help! Good luck!
