Locked down Thurs. Was thinking sat was the hatch date. candeled last week and all was well. I dont hear anything. Sat would been 21 days. Think this will hurt them?
All of my LF Faverolles eggs from Melissa or pasofinofarm look great! All 14 are developing and veining it up they are due the 22nd. I also have 11 bantam Faverolles eggs from Rose Isgrig growing away they are due the 24th. I also have one tester from my own flock in there on day one and 3 swap eggs due on the 11th.
I hope no-one minds if we join the party. We are totally new to hatching. Got my little brinsea a few weeks ago; it's been holding steady temps for a few days. We got 8 beautiful partridge rock eggs from Mt Healthy on Tuesday. Set it all up and set the eggs on the morning of Wednesday the 4th. (Unfortunately I got fumble fingered and dropped the top of the bator; down to 6 egss and telling myself that's what I paid for to start with.)
I think we could have our hatch on the 23rd. My little grandsons want to be here for the "event". Maybe I should have them over for the weekend?
Thanks to everyone here for the hand-holding, tips, suggestions, help, etc. We are excited to be a part of all this!
I will join the post with 10 eggs in the bator. This is my first time haching. I have 5 BLRW and 5 silver amer. I have been doing my research and it seems as if temp is good. Reading about humdity it sounds like people do what works for them, so I am doing a "dry hatch" with humd at around 30-35. I wish everyone luck with their chicks!!
I'll jump on the band wagon here. I just set and incubator full (64) on the 6th so I should have babies right at the end of the month. Boy, I'm sure glad my ol' gals started back laying soon enough for me to start my first hatch of the year in time as I really don't like hatching after May as it just gets too doggone hot here in La. and the chicks don't grow out so well. I usually start back up hatching later on in Sept. when the hotter days have sorta calmed back down. Anyway, I'll jump back in here around the 13th on first candling day and report my progress.
I put my group in on the first and am looking forward to candling tomorrow night to see if things are developing normally.
However, while we were cleaning out some of our breeding coops tonight, we discovered that my silkies have beat me to it! I knew they were sitting, but didn't think they would be ready for another week at the least. Now we have 7 chicks and two Mamas are determined on a pile of eggs still. We moved them to a nursery coop and will check on them in the morning. I will get some pics then also. They are doing a better job this time than last hatch. We lost so many last hatch to being crushed.
I have an update!!!!!! As of 6pm tonight 10 of 31 eggs have successfully hatched. As of 1030pm 8 more were pipped. Now if it goes tonight like it did last night, Tomorrow will be a busy day. Due to work I was not able to get pics but will edit this post tomorrow with BEHBEHS!!!!
Edit! Edit! Breaking news a third phoenix joined the hatch of the living at 11pm wheeeeee!!!!!! sorry guys I am at work living thru my wife who is with the eggs...
We have pure phoenix and mixed hatchery breeds in the bator.
Lockdown complete. I have 29 that went in today and there are three in there due tomorrow. I candled right before I put them in and all but two had large air cells. The two did have alot of mass otherwise so now is just the waiting game.
