Madcap621 & debiraymond: A few hatches ago, I started securing the cartons to the flooring mesh in the incubator, using a 1/2 piece of twist tie fed thru a hole poked thru the bottom of the carton.

Happy hatching everyone! Go chickies, there's still 2 days left in February!

Went ahead and moved the 16 to the brooder last night, #17 hatched during the night, then #18 hatched just a bit ago... I really hope my bantams and ee's hatch, so far nothing, but I know its still early

This is 'Hotlips', Maj. Margaret Houlighan. The LF chick who was running amuck in the hatcher yesterday morning. As you can see, she has black spots, which makes me think she is a Blk Australorp x Golden Commet . S/he is about twice the size of the others.

Hard to count but there are 11 B-Ameracaunas here

Hi all,

Well Day 22 Took 6 out of incubator, 2 hatched a few hour ago and are still in, 2more pipped.
The one that started on the bottom died. Big chick but upside down and stomach on the outside so it was a good thing.
Not sure what colors they will be. They could be black, blue or barred.

Here are two of the oldest babies.

BTW - I forgot to mention that when I candled at lockdown I marked 4 eggs as questionable because they appeared much less developed. Since they weren't weeping or smelly, I left them in. 4 of the hatched chix are from those 4 eggs. Lesson: Never give up -- it ain't over 'til TFLS

We have 6 EE's and 1 Silkie/? mix that hatched out yesterday. They are peeping and ruuning/tumbling around.
