41 eggs due. Candeled the other day and from what i can tell are are good. my luck they are all full of bacteria waiting to explode.
1st hatch.
humidity wasnt getting higher then 25% so i added a sponge up to 34%,
Cant walk into the kitchen without looking at them and checking the gauges.
It's actually one of those dorm fridges. One of my buds was throwing it out, so home it came and 2 days later we had a bator.. I can hardly wait to see if it actually works.I feel like the guy who created frankenstein!! So far 100 degrees perfect and between 50 and 55 % hunidity.
Is better late than never? I'm already signed on a couple of threads so many know I have 17 Bantam Welsummer eggs in the bator, due to hatch Feb. 12. So far so good with my bator but hoping my new Suro 20 gets here tomorrow as scheduled
so I can transfer them. I plan to candle days 10 & 18 but maybe just day 18, will have to see how it goes. I am not great at it, so won't throw out anything but absolute clears or weepy ones regardless.
This will be my last hatch [
FLW
] until I grow some out and see where I am on my hoped for flock of 6 or 8 [or maybe 10, max 12
] bantam pullets! I have 2 from my October hatch. My new years hatch gave me 4, maybe 5 SFBs [aren't sex-linked breeds nice!], 2 Porcelain D'Uccles & 1 Silver Spangled Hamburg - sex unknown. Of course, I have a friend who wants to start a flock of LF layers, so I might have to offer to hatch some for him
- just to be neighborly, ya' know
I am on chick-watch tonight with my Jan hatch-along.
I thought they all got cooked mid way through but have 2 zipping as I type
. They have been at it since 6:30 last pm, so I am beginning to worry but am DETERMINED NOT to open the bator!!
Just poured the last cup of coffee
out of the 4th [5th?] pot, tho', so may have to give it up for a nap!!
I am looking forward to the continuation of the party!!
I have eggs that I put in last night. Hatch date, Feb 15th. Belated Valentines- silkies, black giants, and today I am setting dark cornish bantams.
So, if its not too late, I will join y'all in the egg-stress. I just remembered the stress of wacked-out temperature spikes that come out of the blue and other hazards that occur along the way...
but hatching is such a rush...right now, I am at the
My hatch date is February 11. Had to remove 3 scrambled, shipped eggs, so down to 40, a combination of BRs, BBS Rocks, BBS and Blue Wheaten Ameraucanas and a couple of Marans crosses.
