I waited about 2 hours from when I got the package to when I put them in the incubator.

Lockdown in 2 more days! I haven't been this excited in a long time!!!! Now I think I have hatching fever... a box of Baregretchens BLRW's is coming this week too! So now I will have a March hatch!!!!

UPDATE time.

Today is lockdown day for my B-wellies.

I candled all 17 and had to pull 5 clears, including the one with the mended hairline crack. Of the five, 2 appeared infertile, the other 3 seemed to have started but quit day 2 or 3. SO.............12 went into lockdown, 1 a little questionable, not as much mass evident as the others. The watching

After I put the Wellies in lockdown, I candled my 26 B-Ameracaunas [+ the 2 LF eggs from my friend's hens and the dozen Pastured flock LF from the Amish store that I put in with the {soon to be} poor lonely 2 left-over b-ams]

[ You all are a BAD influence!!] last Friday! of the 26 B-ams, 2 appeared clear, one looked suspiciously like a blood ring and 4 others didn't appear as developed as the rest. I didn't cull anything at this early date, tho'. Both of my friend's eggs appear to be developing, as do 10 of the twelve "store-baught" ones. I transferred 24 b-ams into the Suro-20, which left half of the Hova-Bator empty, so of course I had to pop another dozen "store-baughts'' in!

Like I said. BAD INFLUENCE!!!

I'm in! It's taken me all of February so far just to catch up on this thread. Congrats to all those with chickies already!

I put 24 eggs in the bator on Jan. 31st (I think, I'll have to check). They're all from my Buckeye and Buff Chantecler hens who are in with two roos, one of each breed, so we could definitely get some crosses. Last month I ended up with 6 live chicks and 2 fully formed but never pipped. I had taken a lot of those eggs out of the fridge so I wasn't disappointed to get 6. They're doing great - I can't believe how fast they're feathered out. I'm wondering now if shipping really sets them back because I don't remember my day olds growing so fast.

I candled on Saturday night which was really only day 6 but I saw 10 embryos/veining dancing around! I couldn't tell for sure on the rest but there were many with darker spots in the middle. I'm so excited. Absolutely loving the Brinsea eco 20 - it really is set it and forget it! Now I just wish I could hatch out some Colored Rangers instead of ordering them

That'll do it. Next time let them sit longer. You want them to be room temp all the way through, before you set them.

I hatched 6 BBS Orps, and 8 Turkens. The Turkens are gone to their new home. The Orps are mine!

I was finished hatching, and went to work. When I got home, I went to turn off the incubator and clean it up ..... and there were 2 more chicks! 1 Turken and 1 Orp! Since I had already sold the Turkens, I guess I am stuck with this one!

Here are the Turkens ready to go ...
