Of course you can!! What type of eggs?

I actually don't know what all I'm hatching, they're all from Paganbird. I know there are 3 Leghorn mixes, some BR mixes, and I think some wellies are in there to. Might be a Orp mix or two as well.

Candled tonight. Seems as if the clear eggs are still clear. I'll be removing them before lockdown on Tuesday. I also suspect that one of my BCM eggs is a late quitter, but will let it go to make sure.

I have one egg in the turner that was difficult to figure out which end had the air cell when I first put the eggs in the bator - very rounded on both ends. Turns out this egg is in the turner with the air cell down. Chick is moving around inside so is developing. Should I turn it air cell side up before going into lockdown? I left it as is for now.

I am beginning to wonder what i have gotten myself into this time. Next time I go to incubate eggs I think I will try to see what the weather is going to be like for like the next month or so.
Incubator number 1 started out with 38 eggs. Had to discard 2 and after candling tonight the other 36 are looking great. Should be hatching this Wednesday late or Thursday.
Incubator number 2 is a little staggard. The first setting of 56 eggs were candled tonight and out of the 56,55 are looking good and have 1 clear. They will hatch out February 24th.
Also in that incubator is Marans,Welsumer, and 7 turkey eggs for a total of 97. Have not candled these yet and they should be hatching around FEBRUARY 28TH.
Incubator number 3 has 18 Black Australorp and will be hatching out March 4th.
Now if they will all do good and have a good hatch rate like my prvious hatches I will be doing okay as a good many of these are already spoken for after they hatch.
1 incubator if eggs are being hatched and sold to a neighbor of mine but he is getting the 18 Black Australorp.
Good luck everybody with February hatches.
I also need ideas on keeping the humidity up in my GQF incubator.Usuall here in South Louisiana we have a problem with the humidity but with all the cold weather we are having I have to stay busy trying to keep humidity up. No problem keeping it up in the Little Giant or the hovabator.
Planning to go tomorrow and buy another GQF with the digital temp and humidity setup.($400.00 seems like a good price?)

LovinMyPeeps: It's the 3 week of February & yes it's time to start the 'MARCH HATCH-A-LONG come join in'. I'll be incubating 2 batches at least in March. Will be starting a hatch-a-long every month for this year, & will start it in the 3rd week every month, don't want to get too far ahead at a time. Maybe we'll see you there!

Madcap621: Congrats on your little beauties! I see you'll be expecting March chicks too. You're on a roll now!

sbarab: Air cell goes up, so it will be there when the chick goes to reach up, pip inside & catch a little air, before pipping the shell to catch more air. Thank goodness for candling. Happy lockdown to you!

harryg6167: You've really "got it goin on"; happy hatching.

happyhensny: You're right those are hard to see thru. I just did lockdown on some green/blue ones & just had to be satisfied with seeing the dark mass/chick in the middle since 1st candling. A test of faith in Nature!

Happy hatching everyone!

I now have 6 hatched of my 7 total set eggs, pretty good so far. I'm giving the last egg a few more days then time for clean up. In my notes this last egg was the one I was worried about the most, candling before lockdown showed it moving but it was smaller and a lot more light got into the egg than the others. Here's a picture of 5 of the 6 that have hatched, the 6th one is still drying in the bator.

Good luck to everyone!!!

Today is the 21st day. I woke up this morning and I have a Pip in #5. I heard cheeping!!!!
I am so excited. It is such a shame I had to go to work this morning. I told my DH to check on them today since I don't get off work til 4:30.

If this one actually comes out, I shall call it Sweet & Sour. Since our chinese food place has that as the #5 special!

I noticed two hygrometers in a bator would n't that confuse things? I would be wondering which is right and stressing bout it. I had two thermometers and I just picked one and went w/ that as they were two degrees apart.

Oh and "lockdown" is day 18 and means there's no more opening of the incu, right?
