Still nothing. no pips, peeps, zips, or anything at all. I am candling tonight, and if there is nothing I'm just getting some silkie babies from the feed store for momma hen to raise. dang, if that happens i hope one is a buff rooster. No word on the ameraucanas either, but they are due tomorrow or friday. but i really need some silkies.......

Isn't it great?! I'm on day 19 of my second hatch and already plotting my next one! (Shhhh! Don't tell my husband . . .)

I'm looking for eggs now too. Ken doesn't care - he bought the bator and he started the whole chicken thing and wants me to get the hang of the bator. He wants to buy ANOTHER Brinsea too!

So nice to have a "chicken enabler" spouse!

Here are my first 2 ever to hatch in the incubator! I put 13 in the bator, at 2 weeks 11 looked good when I candled them. So far 7 have hatched, 3 more are pipped!

Any experts out there know which ones are Roo's and which are Pullets. They are BBRED OEG.

Does anyone know if silkies ever hatch at day 21 like standard birds? I'm REALLY hoping that these silkies are just late.....
Will I be able to replace the silkie eggs, if they don't hatch, with some day-old silkies from the feed store?

Day 21 is upon me as of 9:00 tonight and I have almost half of the eggs wobbling, caught a couple of peeps earlier today. Tomorrow shows promise though I'll be away tomorrow night for a few hours so I may miss some of the excitement! I expect most of my hatch to take place on Friday. Started with 21 shipped eggs, 7 were infertile, 10 made it to lock-down though I have big doubts about 1. Thusly I expect somewhere between 0-9 chicks!

Schlante,
Phillip
