So far I have 4 chicks, and 4 eggs left on day 22. I had 1 pip and drowned in blood...ewwww I saw the pip, he was that way for a few hours. Then when he started to zip I guess his membrane wasn't ready and he hit a little vein...maybe? I saw blood seeping out of the egg and he was gasping, so of course I grabbed the egg and a paper towel and tried to get the blood from around his face, but he didn't make it.

nature has its reasons...right?
Hopefully the rest will hatch today. I did the 'tap test' when I had the bator open for that egg and to take the chicks out. I heard 3 of the 4 scratching in there! So hopefully they'll decide to join us today.

These black Australorps were supposed to start hatching today but 4 (took pic when only 3) decided tha
they did not want to wait. Had 1 hatch after pic was taken another running around in incubator now
and pipping eggs everywhere.

I am going to move the eggs to cartons for lockdown - does there have to be holes in the bottom? I just read that somewhere.....

I put holes in the bottoms of mine for better air circulation.

Thirty of 34 eggs hatched! Here they are: 12 blue Andalusians from okiehen, and 18 Easter Eggers from my personal flock.
