Okay, day 21 - 2 Faverolles hatched this morning.

Number 1 says "hello" to number 2.

I had to move them to the brooder about 4:00 pm because they were trampling the newly hatched silkie.

Check out the hairdo on this one!

1 Ameraucana pipped about 8:00 am but has done nothing else yet.

1 Silkie pipped and was zipped 3/4 of the way through by 4:00 pm but has shown no more movement since. I think it is probably dead.

1 Silkie and 1 more Fav have hatched so far - still in the incubator and looking good.

My husband's Jack Russell would really like to have a chicken of her very own!

I have 5 more Silkie eggs, 3 unpipped Ameraucanas and 1 pipped Fav and 8 unpipped Fav eggs still to go. Please send the good hatching vibes my way!

no chicks yet. another silkie egg conked out. day 21 is at an end. how long do i wait before tossing all the eggs and putting 2 delaware and 4 silkie feed store chicks under her? I think im waiting till sunday (day 23) to give up. i feel as rotten as the eggs i've been tossing the past 2 days. only 8 eggs left.

Hi all,

Well here an interesting problem. My 14 cochin eggs are scheduled to stop turning and go into lock down on Tuesday Feb 23. Due to some slow hens my silky eggs came a week later are due to stop turning on the 28th. I have a really old incubator that the cat partially destroyed. I fixed it so that might work. I turned it on tonight and it did get to 96.8 so far. It's a still air incubator where the other has a fan. Providing I can get it to hold temperature do you think it will make a difference if the Silkie eggs are in it? Since I now have 2 incubators running would I be crazy to get more eggs. The reason I ask is because for a year I have wanted the lavender Americana LF and I see that some eggs are available and I got money for my birthday that I was saving for something special....

Have 22 that hatched and are doing great.
Have 6 that hatched but with problems and
don't look like they will make it. Have pictures
but am on wrong computer for the camera card I used.
Will try and post later.

Today I'm on day 14... I candled again last night. Only had to take out 4 duds (nothing but yolks). The other 32 eggs are doing great, growing right along. Next Sat. is the big day! I posted pics. on my blog from candling... you can see veins and the silhouette of the chick. Day 13

Day 22 update:

One more Faverolles hatched this morning and you can see the pip of the Faverolles egg behind it.

Here are the three Favs and the Silkie that are in the brooder. Can anyone tell me what color the Silkie will be? It seems to have a slight reddish tint to its racing stripes.
