FEBRUARY Hatch-A-Long, come join in!!

Yes you can open one of the vent plugs to control humidity in the LG. I sometimes just open one and set it upside down halfway over the hole and then slide it over until I get the humidity right. You can tape it down so it doesn't move if you need to. I put computer fans in mine. I think that helped alot.

Hello. I am waiting on shipped eggs as we speak. They were supposed to be shipped on Friday. I hope they will be here tomorrow! I'm excited, I've never hatched eggs. I'm nervous too. There are so many things that can go wrong and you have their lives in your hand. My son is using hatching the eggs as a school science fair project. (mostly just an excuse for me to get to hatch eggs). I'm also almost afraid for too good of a hatch rate as I can only keep 2 pullets and will need to rehome the rest.

Anyway....looking forward to this project.

I just candled the 12 key west eggs, 2 ameraucauna x phx, and 2 phx eggs. It looks like both of the phx and am x phx eggs are developing and 9 of the key west ones are. Not sure about the other 3. I will wait awhile and do them again. My flashlight sucks so I can't see through the 6 marans eggs grrr.

Congratulations Flashy and Hottchick. Welcome to hatchers anonymous lol. The first hatch is the most exciting.

Yup - I just candled my 56 eggs.

Its just now the end of the 4th day. I know its a little early. Anyway - I definately saw stuff in maybe 2 eggs. I think I saw something in a dozen or maybe 15. The rest looked like duds. I'm going to wait until Friday & try again.

I knew it was too early.

Alright, so does anyone else have pictures yet?

These are all what's left of my hatch. . . Culled out the duds, and I have still a decent number left. I culled about half the Marans eggs, and only sacrificed ONE Shamo egg. Very pleased.

Only 2 more weeks left!!

Cleaned the incubator this morning and setting the next batch in a minute. 36 eggs this time. Going to make sure the humidity is right and temp is set to 100(still air)... then get the little buggers in there in roughly 3 hrs. Deciding to set our weather channel weather station in the incy this time, then surround it with the eggs. We'll see...

What is your target humidity range , that works for you? I am just starting out ... and my humidity was 33% this morning. I am trying to keep it around 50% - thinking day 1-18 should be 50% humidity (from what I read anyway).
