Lockdown time is not an absolute, by the way.
Anyway, lay a paper towel across the water channels. It spreads the surface of the water out, which should raise the humidity level. More surface, more humidity.
It was an absolute in Farmer Lew's mind, lemme tell you. Hehehehe. He locked it down tighter than a drum right on time. He cracks me up.
Thank you for the paper towel idea. I tried to ramp up the humidity over the course of the day today, knowing that tonight was lockdown. Someone else said they had used a wet maxi pad... tried that, but I think it's too good of a quality of pad and has absorbed all the liquid at its core. (Maybe I shoulda used a generic one?? Hahaha.) Farmer Lew put a wet washcloth in there at lockdown, and the humidity is slowly but steadily rising again. When we candled today, all 11 of the eggs that made it to lockdown looked really good. We'll know in just a few short days how many of them make it all the way to hatch!
I love all the pics everyone is sharing of their new hatchlings, too. Keep 'em coming, you's guys!
