FEBRUARY Hatch-A-Long, come join in!!

Just candled, day 9. Of the 7 dozen shipped to me I still have 4 1/2 dozen. 14 were either smashed or cracked upon arrival. The others have candled either clear or blood ring. 6 were just set two days ago so not ready to candle. They are too dark to see through, though, so not sure how they will candle next week. Lock down is on the 21st for the first group of eggs.

All off my newly hatched chicks will be sold today...very sad...I have a lady comig by to get at least 10, last night she said before I call the nest person on the list can she see if she wants all 19. Oh well I have 85 in the bator now...maybe at some point I will get to keep a few...and not just roos...lolI will try to get more pics before they get picked up. My hatch rate for this batch is 79%, pretty good for first time with the GQF...happy hatching

6 of my 7 have hatched- 85%. I'm going to wait one more day on the last egg. My son is dying to eggtopsy it, but I may float test it first. Great first time hatching experience!

Last 2 times the humidity was way to much and they drowned.

FINALLY!!!

Good luck everyone in the hatch along. It seems soooo exciting. I know most people want to keep all their chicks. If there is anyone out there that has an extra Faverolle hen and roo they would like to sell please let me know. If anyone has an extra Blue Wheaton Ameraucana hen they would like to sell please let me know.

Heckel's Hens :

I have officially decided that chick-hatch envy is worse than chicken math. I can't take it!!!!!!!!

That's what happened to us.

It's actually a FORM of chicken math. Hahahaha.

If I had never read any hatching threads, I would have been fine and we wouldn't have a bator and I wouldn't be sitting here panicking if my babies are going to hatch or not! One pipped about 5:30 last night, then nothing until about an hour ago, and now the pip-crack is twice or maybe 3 times the size it was but is still not even close to being a zip, but it's only day 20 so we have a while yet before I worry.

I guess it really isn't that I'm "worried" per se... I just want to see what they are!!! I know what kinda hens (mostly) laid these eggs, but I don't know who the daddies are (mixed flock) and I can't wait to see what kind of funny hybrids we get!
