Late day 18/Early 19: Woke up this morning to at least 2 pips (one from a serama and one bantam EE) and some cheeping
I’m still struggling with my humidity though... i have to be sure to add water before I go to bed but even when I wake up it’s down to 40% (from 65ish). But when I add water it shoots up to 75% or sometimes higher and I have to keep venting it until it burns off a little. I guess that’s what I get for using a $70 incubator...
Mid day 19: 5 or 6 more pips! No zipping or anything, yet
I have had good hatch rates before, and bad, (this time) but one thing I like about this incubator is it doesn't scream at me to add water of if the heat is off. And it was cheap. $70.
Photo of the little Polish/Silkie cross that hatched about 3 AM this morning.
This little one was an accident as we threw this egg in the incubator by mistake as they look very similar to the silkie’s eggs!
My sideways pip/green egg made its way out on its own. Came home from work ate dinner then checked and it was out, quickly followed by #4 which looks remarkable like it’s sibling which I’m guessing was from the same hen and rooster, nearly identical eggs and chicks.
the olive egg chick is the one I’m holding, kinda grey in color. Last, my little sweetheart checking everyone out.
And man, the advantage that first chick has huh? He’s running around. Starting to eat a little and being a little boog picking the toes of the new arrivals.
