Replace the chicken wire with 1/4 inch hardware cloth. It's much safer.

Got 20 heratige reds and 18 all have babies!! Day 12 for me now.

Mirrors are helpful too until you can get her a friend. You can try to find a breeder or someone on here to get another from. Sometimes you can find a broody that will accept a new chick if you can't find another little one to put with her.

Day 13! All 8 shipped silkie eggs look good, I can't decide if I should hatch in a egg carton or not. They have been incubating in one. All the air cells look normal but 1

I like hatching shipped eggs in cartons. Just makes sense me. I've done it 3-4 times and gotten results I'm pleased with.

I have 2 babies. The 2 that went into lockdown hatched. Thought they were going to be a January hatch. But, it's the first day of Feb. I am way down on the replacement eggs of these two that just hatched. The guy told me that he had only one rooster, so if I don't get a good hatch this time either, he will send more in the spring. If I get a few girls between the 2 batches, I'll be good. I saw cute baby ducks, or duck, a few pages back. They are so fun.

when incubating chicken eggs how much of chance do you have to get a rooster and to get hens i already have a rooster and i dont want two roosters fighting is there a way to keep two roosters
