my little cross chick ( isa brown x barred rock) hatched looking very fluffy! Not what I expected to look like! All yellow does this mean it grows all white? Even though both parents arnt fully white?
Yes please!Probably not pure white, like a Leghorn. Maybe a cream or white with red leakage. With those parents I'd expect it to be a fantastic layer if it's a hen
I can post a pic of some of my EE mixes that hatched that color, white, and turned cream as they matured. If you're interested.
I am on the same schedule with 5 eggs set inadvertently to hatch on Pisces moon. Lucked out there. My DD and I looked it up in Almanac after we had set them! yay!. one leaked some egg white(?) must've had a hairline crack we didn't see? Anyway we had to carefully transfer the other eggs and tried to remove it from the turner but it broke in the process. only a tiny piece of shell chipped off. I thought about trying to glue or wax it, but the membrane was torn a bit. The silver lining is the egg was definitely fertile. so now down to 4 tiny silkie eggs we had shipped off of ebay.I thought I joined this HAL but I don't see my post so I'm in now.
I have 17 three week old chicks inside
and buildings are pretty full. I need to rebuild a building that isn't mink proof but we're in the midst of our longest deep freeze in 4 years.
My next setting will be January 27 or 28 for the February HAL and hatching by the waxing moon in Pisces.
Hopefully I can get my homemade cabinet refurbished and put the LG on standby.
I have been doing it for a while but for most of that time my incubators haven't been reliable enough to get a good read on lunar hatching vs. random dates. I should be able to get a better feel this year.I am on the same schedule with 5 eggs set inadvertently to hatch on Pisces moon. Lucked out there. I think we will try to do a staggered hatch as we have some coming this week. might try for the Cancer waxing days on those? Have you been using the lunar days for awhile to set?
I'm having a lot of trouble keeping my hovabator's temp and the humidity at the correct setting. It is in my bedroom, and we rarely use the heat in the house so it is around 58 degrees in my room. We use a fireplace in the living room. So why is it fluctuating so much? Does the temp rise when the humidity goes down? I'm getting some hatchery Brahmas shipped Feb. 20th, and I really want more than 2 to hatch. Thanks in advance for any help.
