february hatch along

Can anyone help urgently? My duckling just hatched yesterday but must have been early his egg pouch is seen and is kind of bloody belly seems like it survived the night and seperated him in time before others pecked it to death as they tried to peck his egg belly area I gave it sugar water and put him in a cup is that ok? What else can I do I really have hope...

Depends on what the umbilical area looks like, but honestly won't make a difference in my opinion to take a picture and show online. I had a couple that were bleeding and I cauterized them that were bleeding profusely, but I don't think that's something that everyone should or can do. (Please leave the condemnation away from here.) Certainly not something that should be recommended willy nilly. Time is probably this ducks only friend, electrolyte water, and TLC. Do you have a vitapak or nutridrench solution? Place her back in the incubator, if it's big enough would be good to give her adequate heating, aka ICU level heating. That would be my recommendation. I would also make sure no other chicks or ducklings have hatched in the incubator so that they can't mess with the duck again.

Thanks have given him some sugar water and nutri drink for poultry seems to be getting more active....and sorry I know this the wrong place to post it was only because I was in a hatch along will delete the post thanks for the advice anyway

Pitched a clear and my first blood ring today. Blood ring egg looks like it died day 7, I think it was an older egg, it’s air sac was twice the size as the others on setting day. I have 1 more I suspect to be clear, but it’s an olive egg, so I’m waiting a day or two. There is 1 more I’m on the fence with. So I’m hopeful for 8 out of 12.

There is 1 that is so active when I candle, I’m worried it going to detach itself, probably a rooster, lol.

How's your duckling doing?

One on my eggs pipped and did nothing for 36 hours except cheep. She was pipping at the bottom of the egg opposite the air sack. I finally decided to help, since it was so long and she was malpositioned. I read the articles over and over, and and zipped the shell, leaving the membrane intact. I waited 8 more agonizing hours, keeping the membrane damp with a paper towel. Then I started peeling back the membrane a bit and she pushed and pushed, and popped out! She is now in the brooder with a fuzzy throw, since no one else hatched yet, but they are peeping. This is now day 22. I am a mess since this was my first incubator hatch! I have 2 excellent broodies, but I wanted an incubator so I could have chicks more than when they decide to. This was almost as stressful as being in labor for 5 days.
