I wish everyone the best with your hatches. I set 40 eggs Jan 29, candled them yesterday and only 1 had a chick close enough to hatch. 10 were not fertile, and 29 eggs, died in shell at various stages. I am guessing the up and down freezing weather then warm days played with my heat setting. don't really know. I usually don't try to hatch this early.
I set new batch of eggs last night. hoping they do better. still air styrofoam incubator. wet sponge in bottom. auto egg turner. The hens have been on all flock this winter though. maybe not enough vitamins/minerals...
Good luck everyone.

Day 11, started with 18 eggs, not sure if i did something wrong or if its just from being so early in the year, but 10 are still clear. 8 have started to develop. Looks like 1 quit, but so far the other 7 are moving still yet.
