thanks everyone for all the help also i have a silkie chick that has pasty but how do i help her

Depends on how stuck on it is. If it is dried really hard to her butt, I will start a slow stream of warm water running and place her butt under it to help loosen it. Once you have it off, be sure you completely dry her. You can put some coconut oil or olive oil on her vent to prevent her next poop from sticking. I also put some probiotics in their water for a couple of days.

If it isn't dried really hard to her butt you may be able to use a wet paper towel to get it off...just be careful and not hurt her, if it doesn't come off with a few soft wipes, then use the first option. You should also continue to check her and her hatch mates every few hours till you are sure it doesn't happen again.

I just realized, my chicks may hatch on St. Patty's day! Now I will have to think of some Irish names!

I had some triplets goats born on Easter. I wanted to give them candy themed names like Cadbury, Hersey, and such. Unfortunately my husband wasn't on board. We still have one of those goats though. A gigantic Nubian cross wether who will turn 6 in March.
