My OEGB decided to go broody again last night. Good thing I have four babies hatching for her next week! I just don't know where I'll put her. I usually separate her for the first week until the chicks are running about well.

Ok here we go! I set the second batch today and I'm questioning whether that was a good idea. What do I do with the turner and lockdown for the 1st batch?? I ordered from two different places and the ship dates ended up being two days apart So while the incy should be on lockdown, I'll need to remove the turner and then hand turn the second batch for 2 days?? Then removing dry chicks while the second batch is on lockdown? Ugh.....I don't know why I ordered from two different places. This is a classroom hatch and I wanted some variety and a good chance of seeing multiple chicks for the kids. I've got 28 total. The MPC eggs are labeled but the eBay eggs are not. I have no idea what they are but they're brown, pink, and blue.

Here are the 1st two I'm not sure of. SAM/BLS and FF? They weren't on the list that MPC sent with the eggs.

And I'm thinking these are some kind of sex link but not sure what color (SLX)....

SF.....salmon favorolles or Swedish flower according to sheet...

I candled for day 7 today, I think my Carolina Sex Link egg isn't fertile, it hasn't developed from what I can tell, how long should I wait to see any changes?

I let mine go pretty much until lockdown unless they smell bad. I don't ever like to give up.

I had a mixed hatch last time. It's a little tricky. Just put them all in lockdown on the early day. Not turning them a few extra days shouldn't hurt them. The higher humidity did hurt my very last two to hatch. They died in the shell. But I had eggs hatch throughout a week without much trouble, until the last two. The last two didn't pip even. So anyway, just being two days apart, I think you will be just fine.

My first chick is out and looking good!

Another pipped in the wee hours and looks like it's about to zip, rocking, cheeping, and pecking! The other 2 are wiggling pretty steady!

My two goofy girls are sitting together on 9 eggs in the same nest box. Not sure how the hatch will go as there are times that they have let some of the eggs cool off. We shall see.

Set 16 goose eggs today! Going to set 16 shipped Orpington eggs tomorrow! That will make 64 total eggs set.
