February/March 2017 Hatch-a-long

I got 10 beautiful turkey eggs in the mail today and will be starting to incubate them tomorrow, so they will be due to hatch around March 25th. What a loooong wait. This will be my first time with turkeys.

Set 32 eggs tonight to hatch on St. Patricks Day. Shipped eggs: 17 Americaunas, 3 Lemon Orps, 3 White Marans, 5 Black CMarans, 1 Turken and 3 Euskal Oilas.

My first hatch this year due on 3/5. Pulled 1 non fertile 1 blood ring. 4 EE's looking good and 8 brown eggs show a lot of movement when candled. 4 questionable ones. So of 18 eggs 12 are definitely doing good.

Hi everyone, I just joined BYC and just completed my first hatch 2 days ago. We hatched 31 out of 36 eggs, had 1 non fertile and 4 non hatchers. So far all are doing well, the wife and I are trying sex them by the feather method. If it is accurate I ended up with 30 pullets and 1 Cockrell, so I am a little sceptical at this point. But happy.

I tried that, but it doesn't work unless you have the specific breeding for it. Wouldn't it be nice if they note that on all the websites showing you how to do it? :p It sure would be nice to have 30 pullets and only 1 cockerel though.

I'm already impatient to candle my eggs and I just set them yesterday. These 28 days are going to go soooo slow.

I'm on day 5 of my first hatch ever! I lost my favorite Dominique hen to a mystery illness at less than a year old. So of course I'm going to hatch her last egg.

I bought a Brinsea Eco and some shipped eggs, 5 speckled Sussex, a black copper maran, a super blue egg layer, and ameriflower, and a Carolina blue sex link. The variety was from MPC and the speckled Sussex from Meyer. I've been candling for three days because I'm so obsessed I couldn't wait till day 7. Everyone looks good so far.

I'm only 5 days in but I already have my next 2 hatches planned!

At day 19. Yesterday, before lockdown, I pulled the 3 questionable eggs out (first ever hatch, and blue eggs, so I wasn't sure...and truthfully, just didn't want to give them up. Lol)
Today, we have eggs rocking a bit, so I'm very excited.
So far, out of 8 shipped, 4 are still viable. Temp is steady, and I finally got the humidity up and steady.
Soon to be a chickie-mama!

She only had one egg for you to hatch from her? I hope it all goes well. Those Dominique sure are pretty. Just be careful not to candle too much and jostle them around. I know it's hard. I candled a ton on my first hatch. Not that I've hatched all that much. I'm on my 4th hatch now. :-D
