All snug. They all been eating and drinking. They got chick boost in their water. They spent quite a bit of time out from under the brooder eating, drinking and being noisy but are now mostly tucked in and quiet. I got my baby moniter set up so i can watch them. They hatched yesterday.

Ugh and as i post this i found a chick stuck to the press and seal covering the heating pad....off its coming.

Edited to ask: Is it normal for them to go under the heating pad and get quiet? Its freaking me out. Also i have 1 that seems to only be eatinf the tiniest of specks of food instead of the big ones. And i believe it was that one that was also like laying under the brooder with its head down. I coaxed her out and she ate and drank but im already worried.

Edited to add: they have come out from the brooder a couple times now to eat and drink and when they do they are noisy. But when they all tuck back in they get quiet.

Edited to further worry 😆: ok it seems like any chicks under thr brooder are doing this lay down and put their head down. And a couple have fallen asleep witht their heads down then they startle back awake when their beaks hit the floor. Im gueasing normal and i should let them sleep.

First time having chicks but when mine are under the pad they are generally either quiet or occasionally very softly cheeping.

I'm learning, too.

When I came home from work, temperature was mid 60s, so I took the chicks out for play time but didn't close off the pen. I actually turned it so they had a view.

Some of them hopped out, making brief sorties:

Then, when my back was turned...

There was no looking back! Off they went, exploring...

I put them back in their brooder in case they were getting chilled, but most of them came back out within a couple minutes!

At one point they all went back in the brooder on their own, so I shut them in for the night.

I anticipate they'll be wanting OUT in the morning... good thing I will be home tomorrow!
