I’m new to chicks but I personally had to go out for electrolytes last hatch and a b-complex for a weak chick (that didn’t make it) got syringes to help feed it. I also got some horse tape? Not sure what it’s called but kind of like athletic tape which I used for leg splay. Tape on hand for boots if their feet are curled. That was my first hatch though but it does seem leg splay can be a common problem. I also used paper towel over shavings for first two days so they could have time to get their feet under them (prevent leg splay) Hope that helps! I’m clearly no expertQuestion: i bought some nutri drench because ive seen it mentioned many times and wanted to have it on hand if i needed it. Should i give them some right away after picking them up? It will be about a 20- 25 min ride home. Also anything else you suggest i have on hand for an emergency?
Oh I also went and got a heat pad when I had to separate the chick from the others. Might be good to have on hand if you do need to separate one and have no other heat source option.I’m new to chicks but I personally had to go out for electrolytes last hatch and a b-complex for a weak chick (that didn’t make it) got syringes to help feed it. I've been doing a lot of handling the chicks, picking up, stroking, bringing them to eye level and speaking to them.
