Ooh, can I join?

My chicks were hatched a week ago, picked them up on day #3:

They're brooding outdoors, with a MHP:

Temps have dropped to mid 30s overnight but they seem to be doing well.

I've been doing a lot of handling the chicks, picking up, stroking, bringing them to eye level and speaking to them.

Question: i bought some nutri drench because ive seen it mentioned many times and wanted to have it on hand if i needed it. Should i give them some right away after picking them up? It will be about a 20- 25 min ride home. Also anything else you suggest i have on hand for an emergency?

I’m new to chicks but I personally had to go out for electrolytes last hatch and a b-complex for a weak chick (that didn’t make it) got syringes to help feed it. I also got some horse tape? Not sure what it’s called but kind of like athletic tape which I used for leg splay. Tape on hand for boots if their feet are curled. That was my first hatch though but it does seem leg splay can be a common problem. I also used paper towel over shavings for first two days so they could have time to get their feet under them (prevent leg splay) Hope that helps! I’m clearly no expert :)

Oh I also went and got a heat pad when I had to separate the chick from the others. Might be good to have on hand if you do need to separate one and have no other heat source option.

Sorry for the late reply, just saw this, ofc you can join. :)

I still have my chicks 23 hatched in Feb. My neighbor who got some chicks says his are doing great. I have 17. My chicks are doing fine as well. I have them in 2 groups (brooders) since they were staggered. One group almost 1-2 weeks older. I may combine them when they get moved outside. My hope is in a new location no one will feel territorial.
