Well I'm a murderer. It is SO hard to be patient!!! I'm on day 4 with blue/lav. Faves and marans. I'm not candling the marans until at least 7 days... So I've been dying to get a peek at something. Candled my 9 fav eggs and could see no development at all. They were shipped and it was cold so I was so disappointed. I decided to open one. WHY?!?! Of course when I cracked it open it was looking great and I could even see a heart beat.:(((((((

So sorry about the one you cracked open, Sometimes it is hard to be patient, and at such an early time in the eggs being set you just need to wait 4 days is way too early to tell anything. The dark Marans eggs are going to be difficult to see through so on those It would be better to keep them all the way through to hatching just to be on the safe side.

Good luck on the rest of the eggs, and everyone makes mistakes on hatching at one time or another don't beat yourself up about it. (Lesson Learned

Lesson learned indeed... I wish there was an incubator accessory that would slap you if you tried to mess with the eggs ;)
 
I am going to be setting some eggs soon, I think I am going to try some blue and black copper maran eggs. I can get them 2 towns over, so I may get them tomorrow! I can't wait to hatch again after my first couple times last year. I was hooked.

I just put 23 more chicken eggs in my bator, one of them is small and green.
What other chicken breeds besides EEs and Ameraucanas la green eggs?
