I don't have problems with mice in the coop, or the chicks will have a feast. I do feed them before bed , pellets in summer, hot pellet oatmeal mash in winter. Then I always put a dish of feed and fresh water in the coop for the morning. That way they can eat and drink if I don't get out there at first light.
