The high temperatures across the Central Plains states and drought in the southern half of the plains has effected the price of corn, soy and wheat. Durum wheat production is actually down due to spring flooding in the Northern Plains, but the rest is due to drought/heat. Yields are down, and so are stockpiles. This means prices are up. Gas and oil prices are also up, so transportation costs more. This all means our animal feed is up. It also means food prices in general are on the rise. Meat in particular, as it is fed the higher priced grain products.
