So - yesterday was feed store day. We live FAR, so I try to make one run every 2 weeks, thus saving time and gas. I screwed up - I brought my husband along. Not only does he move as slowly as possible all day (it's like he's waiting on Christmas) - but HE DOES NOT PAY ATTENTION!!!
A trip that should have had me done and home by 3 or 4 took me until 7pm last night - and I STILL ended up unloading most of it because he was planning to plan how he would do things....no patience...I have NO patience any more...and he was testing it...so I just started tossing stuff and didn't look like I should have as we unloaded....
At the feed store, he and the person loading my feed were busy discussing the neighbors and their half dead horse (it's 30 and really looks about ready to go at any time) instead of paying attention to what they loaded. I ASSumed (my next mistake) that he was paying attention as I sat in the truck and waited...and waited...and WAITED.... but NNNOOOO...that would have been another challenge!!
So, this morning I go out to feed, and I notice I have 20% LAYER CRUMBLES instead of 20% CHICK STARTER CRUMBLES!!!
Gee, thanks sweetie for "having my back"...so now...what would you do?
Would you feed the broiler chicks the layer feed because really, they are only going to be here a few weeks and you don't have to worry about the calcium being too high since you aren't trying to get to laying age?
OR - would you go back to the feed store Monday and swap it out for the right stuff....keeping in mind the feed store is a HEFTY little ride (2 hours round trip)?
I knew I should have just done this myself, I knew it...and I'm a little "rantish" sorry
But it really IRKS ME that this happened - I told him what I was getting, and then they loaded up one wrong bag...accidents happen...but it's going to be MONTHS before the laying hens are laying yet...don't want to feed 5 little RIR pullets the wrong feed and end up with them all screwed up from getting too much calcium too soon...so what would ya'll do?
