Yep. Feed stores are dangerous places to visit this time of year. I am taking this year off from raising chicks. I did it the last two years. I have some other projects that need to be completed this spring that I have been putting off for 2 years. AND I don't have time this spring to build a third coop. It will probably be a couple of years until I raise my next batch of chicks. I need to pickup some feed tomorrow on my way home from work. I am going on Monday in hopes that the chicks all sold out over the weekend and this week's shipments are not in yet. I told my wife and daughters that they will not be going with me to get feed until chick season is over... Everytime they went with me last year to buy chicks we always brought home more than planned. For example, on one visit to the feed store there was a bin that had been holding Buff Orpington chicks. We looked in it and saw that there was only one chick in the bin. How could anyone leave one in the bin by itself? We couldn't. I was considering taking it when one of my daughters looked at me with very sad eyes. She did not have to say a word.... We had no intentions on adding another Buff Orpington last spring.
